First, we’d like to say a big THANK YOU to all the volunteers that helped with FitFest over the past weekend! We have some exciting updates to share with everyone as we are less than a month away from our AGM now!
2018 EDBRC Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Please be advised that the 2018 AGM will be on Sunday, March 4th from 12:00PM-2:00PM (Changed from original time of 1:00PM-3:00PM). We are moving up the board meeting by an hour as we will be participating in Community Sleigh Rides hosted by the Riverdale Community. More info on that below!
Quorum is vital at the AGM. Without quorum the new board cannot be voted in and the club cannot move forward with its 2018 mandate. This is every member’s opportunity/responsibility to give their input into the future of the club and paddling at Dawson Park. This is the most important meeting of the year. It will outline how you, the members, want the club to progress and better serve you as athletes.
30% of membership needs to be in attendance to achieve quorum. If you are unable to attend the AGM you may authorize an attending member to your proxy by completing the 2018 Proxy Form (click here to download). All proxies must be received prior to the March 5th meeting. Members attending the meeting should send any proxies they have collected to firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject: EDBRC 2018 AGM Proxy by March 4th. Attending members may have a maximum of 1 proxy vote.
Board of Director Nominees
With fewer applicants this year applying for the board, we have the results of 3/4 of the board positions. The remaining position will be voted on at the AGM by all members in attendance.
The tentatively confirmed board members are:
- President: Victor Dong
- Treasurer: John Nham
- Director of Team Managers & Coaches: Bob Sochowski
Board position up for open competition:
- Director of Equipment & Maintenance: Ryan Dumas/Ben Edwards
This year, we have posted all of the applications for each role on the website here. Please take a moment and read through each application in order to help you familiarize yourself with the applicants. While 3 of the 4 positions are tentatively confirmed, it is still good to understand what they want to accomplish. For our last position, we hope this will aid you in making an informed decision with your vote. In addition, with Victor taking over the president role, the Director of Infrastructure & Administration will be vacant going forward. We are opening application for that position along with interest for various committees we are in need of people.
The positions available are:
- Director of Infrastructure & Administration
- Events Coordination
- Maintenance Crew
- Asset Management
- Marketing Team
If you are interested in any of these positions, please apply if you feel like you would be a good fit. Applications will be closing on Tuesday, February 20.
Community Sleigh Rides
The Riverdale community is hosting sleigh rides on Sunday, March 4. The sleigh rides will be going from the Little Brick Cafe, with our clubhouse as the mid-way point. sleighs will arrive at our club house around 2:15PM and we will have hot chocolate available for any community member that stops by.
In addition, anyone interested can get on the sleigh rides from our clubhouse and go for a loop. There will be multiple sleighs available and the event will be done by 4:00PM. We encourage members to join in on the fun!
